United Way Receives Gift from Princess Cruises

Halifax, NS - November 3, 2008 - On the final day of the 2008 cruise season in Halifax, Princess Cruises presented United Way of Halifax Region with a certificate for an exclusive lunch and tour for 25 people. Princess Cruises is presenting the luncheon gift in recognition of the warm welcome passengers received throughout the year


"We are delighted to receive this unique gift which we will auction to raise funds for our 2008 Campaign which has a goal of $5.8 million" said Catherine Woodman, President and CEO of United Way of Halifax Region. "This gift will help raise money for our community and give donors the opportunity to experience a taste of life on a cruise ship while dining onboard during the 2009 season."

"Princess Cruises is pleased to recognize the end of the cruise season by providing this gift to the United Way which supports many organizations throughout the Halifax region" said Jan Swartz, Princess Senior Vice President.

United Way fundraising is concentrated in workplaces where people contribute through payroll deduction. The funds raised through the auction will be added to the 2008 Campaign total. Details of the auction will be released on Friday November 14.
