“The port has welcomed over two million cruise visitors which we’re celebrating with local community, the tourism industry, and cruise visitors,” said Cathy McGrail, Manager of Cruise Development, Halifax Port Authority.

Upon arrival in Port Thursday, each visitor will be presented with a small gift of Acadian Maple Syrup and a Nova Scotia Flag pin.

Another highlight of the day will be a Taste of Nova Scotia luncheon with partners from Halifax
Regional Municipality, the Captain of the MS Maasdam and his senior staff, and cruise visitors from the Holland America Line vessel.

“We are honoured to celebrate this milestone with the Halifax Port Authority and the cruise ship visitors,” says Janice Ruddock, executive director of Taste of Nova Scotia. “Of course the best way to celebrate is with Nova Scotia food and wine…so chef Ryan Adams of Five Fishermen restaurant is preparing a lunch of Garden Gazpachio with creme fraiche and a Seafood Salad paired with wines from Domaine de Grand Pré to give our visitors a truly local culinary experience,”

“Every year, our passengers and crew look forward to visiting Halifax. It is a marquee destination for us, and the people here have always made us feel welcome. Meadows, CTC, executive vice president, marketing, sales and guest programs."

Holland America Line will be presenting a donation to the Mission to Seafarers – Halifax in support of their Annual Appeal Fundraiser 2009.
